The suffering of a people

The suffering of a people

The cries of a wife, mother, daughter
As loud as thunder, as quiet as the dread deep inside
Pursued for fighting,
A war that was never theirs
Their cause, their beliefs…their way of life
Stripped away and forever hunted
Salty tears fill the eyes of men
Not able to defend their land…children left as orphans
A whole generation shattered, it ripples down
Running, forever running from our past
Running to a future that is unknown
A stranger in a strange land
They are now strange faces in a crowd
Unsung heroes of the war, left unnoticed
Here they reside, the land of the free
Here they live, misplaced, out of place, finding their place

...to be continued...
